About
Welcome to The Turners Workshop Ltd. We truly appreciate you visiting us.
The Turners Workshop was started by Vince way back in 1998, initially as a de-stressor from work.
It started in a shed in the small garden of a council house in Wallsend on Tyne, progressed to the greenhouse, then two sheds and a greenhouse, and to where we are now, two warehouses in Camperdown!
Pen making back then was in its infancy. Woodturners would say to me, "I make big bowls, not pens" When we brought in Acrylics to the UK, we got " I turn wood, not plastic, son" Wow, how things have changed.
Yes, you did read correctly, we were the first company in the UK to introduce the many colours and designs of acrylic pen blanks into the UK.
We now have, without doubt, the largest stock of pen-making materials in the world, especially the more rare and limited materials.
We have acquired liquidation/closure stock from the likes of Conway Stewart, Omas, Bexley Pens, and some we are sworn to secrecy (don't ask, I will never divulge).
We secured the purchase of over 10,000 vintage Cellulose Acetate pen rods from, two of the most well know Pen Restorers in the world, Dr Jim Marshall and Arthur Twydle, another find was old Erinoid Casein this was located and bought up, this led to us giving rebirth to Erinoid Ltd, it was too good a British company to fade away.
We are privileged to supply everyone from the hobbyist in the garden shed to the world's best and well-known Pen Brands and Custom Pen makers internationally.
Our materials have made pens from a few pounds to the most expensive of £4,995.
Our company has grown because of everyone of our customers who I class as friends, I have had the privilege to meet the most amazing people, some of whom are long gone but the memories are alive in the warehouse, where we would talk pen making/woodturning for hours.
The business has grown, so much over the years, we stock all woodturning items, pen cases, chests, everything needed for pen making, polishes, abrasives, and we even have UK Pen Shows Ltd, which runs pen shows around the UK and Singapore.
So all there is to say is Thank you, one and all, thank you for visiting the website, enjoy browsing, any questions, you know where I am, and we would love to meet you some day at the Warehouse.
